General Notary FAQs

Can I get a document notarized if I do not speak English?

Hablamos Español!

We can notarize a document if you and our notary can communicate directly, in the same language, without third party involvement, including an interpreter. We generally can help with Spanish-speaking notaries.

Note that the notarial wording in the notarial certificate (the part that the notary signs) will need to be in English. If it is not in English, our notary can attach a notarial certificate to your document which will be in English, assuming your document permits use of such a certificate.

Regardless of language, we are only able to notarize documents that are intended for use in the United States and for signers who have a valid United States Social Security Number. In all cases, we recommend that you confirm with the intended recipient that the document is acceptable for its intended use.

Can you notarize a document that isn't written in English?

Yes, we can notarize a document in another language, just as long the notarial block is in English.

Where can I get legal advice about my own situation?

NotaDoc is not a law firm or a substitute for an attorney or law firm. Neither we, nor our notaries, are licensed to provide any legal advice.

Neither NotaDoc nor any of our notaries can provide any kind of advice, opinion, or recommendation about your specific legal situation or rights, including whether any particular document may be electronically signed or whether an electronically signed or notarized document will be accepted by your intended recipient.

If you have any questions about your document or transaction, or about having your document electronically signed or about validity or acceptance of your document by the intended recipient, it’s always a good rule of thumb to check directly with the recipient and also with your legal advisor. We encourage all our users to seek legal advice for any questions about notarized documents or associated transactions.

Can I notarize a document for use outside the United States?

When you have your document notarized, you can ordinarily take that document and use it outside the United States by having the designated state agency (usually the Secretary of State’s office) issue and attach to the notarized document an “Apostille.”

We can also handle the apostille seal process for you. The requirements and processing time for authentication certificates will vary from country to country. We offer a streamline service which will allow you to obtain your apostille seal efficiently and effectively. We charge $75.00 for this service. Email us your document today to get started: notary@mynotadoc.com. We look forward to helping you!
